Abstract

Self-assessment is one way of self-assessment, which is needed in achieving initial basic clinical practice skills for female nursing students in hospitals. Initial basic clinical practice in hospitals is a learning tool for nursing students to apply nursing theory and, integrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills, who have received guidance from academic supervisors (lecturers) and clinical supervisors (hospital). This research aims to self assess the abilities of female nursing students at the basic level, starting clinical practice in hospitals, which is the main goal of nursing education. The method used is quantitative research using a descriptive analytical research design, to answer the identification of the research problem of self assessment of how skilled the implementation of basic clinical practice is at the beginning of practice by female nursing students in hospitals. The population in this study was a total sampling, totaling 36 female nursing students in initial basic clinical practice at the hospital. The research results showed five skill categories: Very skilled, 12 female students (33.33%), skilled, 12 female students (33.33%), quite skilled, 7 female students (18.42%), less skilled, 3 female students (7.89%). %), and unskilled, 2 female students (5.26%). The conclusion shows that the Self-Assessment average percentage in carrying out basic initial clinical practice skills in the hospital is in the highly skilled, skilled, and quite skilled categories. However, there are still relatively smaller numbers of nursing students in the less skilled and unskilled categories compared to those in the highly skilled, skilled and moderately skilled categories.
